Whitsunday Islands
There are 74 Whitsunday Islands in a magnificent archipelago lying just of the Queensland sub tropical coastline. They are in an area that experiences a fantastic climate for nine months of the year and can be reached by air from all Australian capital cities. On the mainland, the city of Mackay and the tourist town of Airlie Beach provide plenty of tourist infrastructure in the way of accommodation, cruises, tours and transfers to ensure that you can easily visit any of the islands in the Whitsunday passage. It can be accessed by ferry from the Hamilton Island marina or from Airlie Beach on the mainland.Its nearest neighbor in the Whitsunday Islands is Daydream Island which had a complete rebuild in the early 2000's. It now has one of the best health spa set ups in the region and also is very popular with family tourists. Long Island is the home of three separate resorts which range from great three star family resorts right through to five star tropical hideaways. At the southern end of the Whitsunday Islands is Brampton Island which also provides a fantastic family style resort experience.
