
Moreton Island Forms the seaward barrier of Moreton Bay. The island is one of three giant sand island that exist in south east Queensland and all three feature sensational beaches, beautiful rainforests and pristine lakes. They are popular tourist destinations and Moreton Island is one of the easiest to get to. It lies close to Brisbane which is the main entry point for international tourists coming to Queensland for a holiday. On its inshore side is the beautiful Tangalooma resort which is only a short ferry ride from the bustling center of Brisbane city. The resort is world famous for the many bottlenose dolphins that visit the jettty at the resort, every night, for a free handout of food. many of the adult dolphins bring their babies and teach them to interact with the tourists.There are also many holiday homes on the island that you can rent for a week or so.
At the northern end of Moreton Island is Cape Morton where there is a beautiful lighthouse. The view from the lighthouse is spectacular with turtles and sharks often seen from the headland itself. the island also has lots of unique flora and fauna. Giant grass trees are common and the island also has plenty of unique Australian animals.
