Great Keppel Island

Great Keppel Island lies of the Capricorn Coast in central Queensland. The Keppel Group are a number of continental islands that lie close to the coast and feature magnificent beaches and beautiful bays. Most have fringing coral reefs and are ideal for snorkelling fishing and diving. Great keppel island is the largest of these. Several small resorts exist on the other islands. Great Keppel island was famous for years as a holiday destination and was home to a large resort. This has recently been demolished, and as of 2010, a new resort is in the planning and approval stages. Access to the islands is via a ferry service from the marina at the Rosslyn Bay marina.
